El Tovar Apartments

In October 1988, CMHC acquired a 73-unit apartment building named the El Tovar Apartments.  Renovation financing included a $2.2 million Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA) mortgage loan, equity financing from NBD Community Development Corporation and a weatherization grant from the Michigan Department of Social Services.  A Section 8 Moderate Rehabilitation Housing Assistance Payments Contract totaling $6.2 million was also approved making rent subsidies available for the project.  Rehabilitation was completed in July 1993.
